No cookies here — and only what sign-in needs in the app

This website sets no cookies and tracks nothing. The jvinu app, once you run it, sets cookies only to sign you in: no tracking, analytics or advertising, so there’s nothing to accept or refuse. Here is everything either of them keeps in your browser, and why.

This website

No cookies. 4 settings stay in your browser’s local storage, are never sent anywhere, and only remember a choice you made:

  • jvinu-theme

Light, dark or the system's appearance.

Until you change it · When you choose one

  • jvinu-cookie-notice

That you've read the cookie notice, so it doesn't come back.

Until you clear it · When you close the notice

  • jvinu-updates

That you've seen the email-updates sign-up, so it doesn't open by itself again.

Until you clear it · When you close or answer it

  • jvinu-tier-best

Your best score in the storage-tier game on the home page.

Until you clear it · When you play it

The jvinu app: cookies

All of them are the app’s own. They’re HttpOnly, so no script on a page can read them; SameSite=Lax, so other sites can’t send them along in the background; and, when the app is served over HTTPS, they only travel encrypted.

  • jvinu_session

Keeps you signed in. It holds a random token; the server keeps only a hash of it.

7 days, or until you sign out · When you sign in

  • jvinu_oidc

Carries the single sign-on handshake, sealed, between the server and your identity provider.

10 minutes · Only while signing in with single sign-on

The jvinu app: settings kept in your browser

These aren’t cookies. They stay in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to the server. Each is there to remember a choice you made.

  • jvinu-theme

Light, dark or the system's appearance.

Until you change it · When you choose one

  • jvinu-cookie-notice

That you've read the cookie notice, so it doesn't come back.

Until you clear it · When you close the notice

  • jvinu-link-expiry

The expiry you last chose for a share link, as the next default.

Until you clear it · When you share a file

  • jvinu.sql.history

Your recent SQL queries, to run again.

The last 20 · When you run a query

  • jvinu-waitlist-joined

That you joined the cloud-backup waitlist.

Until you clear it · Only if you join it

Your files and your storage provider

When you preview or download a file, your browser may fetch it straight from your storage provider (Amazon S3, Azure, Google Cloud and so on) through a short-lived signed link. That request goes to the provider, under its own terms. On an encrypted connection, files always come through your jvinu server instead.

Your choices

In the app, signing out deletes the session cookie at once. Your browser can remove everything listed here: clear the site’s data in its settings. You can block cookies for the app, but then you can’t sign in.

Running your own jvinu?

The app’s part of this page describes what the jvinu software itself stores. If you add analytics, a chat widget or any other third-party service to your server, update this page, and ask visitors for consent where the law requires it.
